The group show "Shapeshifter" by Yusuke Hanai, Herbie Fletcher, and Barry McGee will be held as the opening exhibition of T&Y GALLERY from August 25 (Fri.) to September 30 (Sat.), 2023. The exhibition will be the first group show of three artists and friends. It will feature collaborative art works by them.

Yusuke Hanai was born in 1978 in Hokkaido, Japan, and chose to become an artist at the age of 17 after seeing Rick Griffin's Surfer Magazine cover”MURPHY”, and began his career by painting signs for a friend's cafe and posters for a friend's band. he participated in the "The Happening" art show and has exhibited his work in New York, Sydney, Tokyo, London, and Paris in 2006. He released his first book "Ordinary People," in 2017 and in 2022 he had exhibitions "FACING THE CURRENT" at the Long Museum in Shanghai, China.

Herbie Fletcher

Herbie Fletcher

Born in California in 1948, He has been a pioneer and leader in the surf culture for many years. Creating and developing products that revolutionized surfing to making movies that would become the standard that contemporary surfers would look to for innovation. His sense of adventure has always translated well through his artistic vision. Recently, his work has been exhibited at Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, CA (2018), Gagosian (2019), among others.

Barry McGee

Barry McGee

Born in San Francisco in 1966. After graduating from the San Francisco Art Institute with a BFA in painting and printmaking, he joined the Mission School, an art movement influenced by the spirit of urban culture and community consciousness. He has been exhibited his art works at the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles, 2000), Fondazione Prada (Milan, 2002), Berkeley Art Museum (Berkeley, 2012), ICA Boston (Boston, 2013), Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (Fort Worth, 2013), and the Watari-um Museum of Modern Art (Tokyo 2007/2017).
